Basketball Maine Announces 2nd Annual Maine Class All Star Showcase Weekend

November 14–15 event will celebrate the start of the Maine high school basketball season with two days of combines, showcases, contests and North vs. South All-Star competition

PORTLAND, Maine — Basketball Maine is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Maine Class All Star Showcase Weekend, taking place November 14–15 in Portland.

More than simply an All-Star event, the weekend is designed as a statewide celebration of Maine high school basketball and the official kickoff to the upcoming season!

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s invite-only Showcase Weekend will once again bring together many of Maine’s top boys and girls basketball players for two days of competition, evaluation and recognition before they return to their respective high school teams to begin the 2026–27 season.

“We want this weekend to become the celebration that tips off the high school basketball season in Maine,” said Lenny Holmes, Director of Basketball Maine. “For two days, players from different schools, classes and different parts of the state can come together, compete and celebrate Maine basketball. Then on Monday, they go back to their high school teams and the new season officially begins.”

SHOWCASE SATURDAY — NOVEMBER 14

The celebration begins Saturday morning at the Portland Sports Complex with the NBA/College All Star Combine, presented in conjunction with LUDUS Combines.

Athletes will participate in combine-style testing similar to evaluations used at the college and professional levels, providing players with measurable results and a snapshot of their individual athletic abilities. The Combine will also feature shooting and ball-handling evaluations, with top performers qualifying for Saturday evening’s All-Star Contest.

Saturday afternoon shifts to the court for the Interclass Showcase Games, where invited players from different classifications will compete against one another with featured evaluators on each court. The Goal is to create a "Showcase Report" directory which will later be shared with College Coaches. 

The action then moves to the Maine Basketball Academy Saturday evening for the Next Up 9th Grade All-Star Games. Some of Maine’s top ninth-grade players will represent the North and South in separate girls and boys games, with the finals of the Girls and Boys All-Star Contests taking place between games.

SUNDAY MAIN EVENT — MAINE CLASS ALL STAR GAMES

Sunday brings the weekend to its centerpiece at Cheverus High School, with a full day of Maine Class All Star North vs. South Games.

Outstanding players from Class A, B, C and D/S will represent the North and South in eight games throughout the day, creating a unique opportunity for Maine basketball fans to see many of the state's top players together just one day before the official start of the high school basketball season.

A Player of the Game will be recognized following each contest, and games will be broadcast live on Basketball Maine's YouTube Channel.

For one weekend, school rivalries can wait.

Players from across Maine will come together to compete, showcase their abilities and celebrate the game before returning to their high school teams on Monday and beginning another Maine high school basketball season.

From Saturday morning's Combine through Sunday night's final Class A game, the Maine Class All Star Showcase Weekend is intended to become an annual tradition — a celebration of the players, the game and the start of a new season of Maine high school basketball.
